Doing what Jesus did
SO WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE TO FOLLOW …..TO BE A DISCIPLE OF JESUS?
- Follow Him…..
DO WHAT JESUS DID!
- How would Jesus handle the PARENTING situation I currently face?
- What would He say to my CLIENT the next time they unleash their frustration on me?
- How would He lead himself after months of REJECTION
LETTERS to every job applied for?
- How would He handle another month that has MORE MONTH THAN MONEY?
And endless other questions just like it…
By the way….. have you taken the time to ask Jesus the answer to questions like those?
SO WHAT DID JESUS DO?
He healed the sick … opened blind eyes … caused the lame to walk …raised the dead … drove out demons … fed the hungry … comforted the brokenhearted … released the captive … forgave sin … calmed storms …
preached the gospel to name a few…
So how do we make sense of this?
He laid laid down His life to follow the
Father by the power of the Spirit.
Matt. 4:18-22 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two
brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net
into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I
will send you out to fish for people (make you fishers of men).” 20 At once they
left their nets and followed him. 21 Going on from there, he saw two other
brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with
their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and
immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
Mark 2:13-14 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to
him, and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of
Alphaeus (also known as Matthew) sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me”, Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
How do we make sense of this?
Was it because they knew Jesus was Lord?
Matt 7 When he had finished the crowds were amazed at his teaching because he taught as one who had authority – and not as their teachers of the law.
(Matt 11); “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give
you rest. Take MY YOKE upon you and learn from me…
… for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for you souls.
For MY YOKE is easy and MY BURDEN is light.”
